We had a very festive Memorial Day weekend this year. We kicked off the long weekend with Donato’s and game night (Monopoly) with Max. Saturday we went to Abby and Nool’s for a Memorial Day BBQ (and late bday celebration for Stella). I made PW’s BBQ Jalapeno Poppers (which everyone LOVED) and Deb Britt’s fruit pizza (similar to this recipe) and almost equally as popular.
Twas great to see everyone. So many babies! Aside from the Nool kids, Bob and Becca had their 18 month old, Vanessa, and 3 week 0ld, Isaac. Jenny and Adam had two small ones, 10 months and 2 (I think!). Max was the oldest one there and he’s not used to that. Lucas did not get to join in the festivities because he was at two consecutive birthday party sleepovers!
Sunday we went to a BBQ at Ross’s friend Nikki’s parents’ house in Shelbyville. It was an alpaca farm (among other things) and they were awesome. So cute and curious. We took Taylor with us and she had a ball. It was quite hot, though, and she wore out towards the end of the afternoon. It was really nice to spend some time with Ross’s friends, especially since we don’t see them often. I was going to bring fruit pizza to this shindig but I didn’t have the energy to make another one so we opted for a fruit tray, 2 kinds of chips and dip.
Monday was a lazy day. I cleaned the house in the morning while Ross and Dad played golf. We didn’t pick the kids up until 4 and by that time I was elbow deep in jalapenos. I decided to make candied jalapenos courtesy of this recipe. I haven’t tried them yet (you have to wait 2 weeks) but I’m dying to! The kids were literally gagging at the vinegar smell in the house, so we won’t be making them again anytime soon.
All in all, a very nice relaxing long weekend!
